Before We Begin Tour : Dallas

I remember playing Eric Nam’s Runaway all throughout 2019 Fall while driving home during the sunset after long study hours. At the beginning of 2020, to be exact February 5th I was so lucky to capture Eric Nam live in concert! This was the biggest concert I had photographed to date and I remember arriving at the venue with ice-cold feet and sweaty palms hoping everything would go smoothly. The coldest day in Dallas did not stop Eric’s crew from performing their best and bringing all the energy and fun to all of us.

Upon arriving inside the venue with my photo pass I was so intimidated to walk around I directly went to the corner of the front pit and stood there for the opening act of Phoebe Ryan and about Eric’s first 4 performances. My feet started to kill me because I foolishly wore heels in the mosh pit, I timidly decide to walk up the stairs to capture the whole energy of the venue. I took some wide-angle photographs in the soundbox and tried experimenting with how to capture the venue in a flashy way… I decided to use a cd and lens filters to play around with the crazy lights by Max Weisen. I shyly bump into Bobo - Eric’s tour photographer who in fact gave me the photo pass and softly greeted him while I exited the soundbox area. After getting all my shots I decided to enjoy the rest of the show and put my camera down. I sat in the reserved section and started singing along softly while in my zone. Foolishly, feeling like the main character I accidentally sat next to Brittany Nam which I only realized later haha! The whole night was so unreal that I actually photographed Eric Nam live in concert! Listening to the album Before We Begin all Fall and Winter, it was unbelievable to have this opportunity!

If you were wondering how I got my photo pass, here’s how! Well, it was, of course, a lot of colds emailing to management, the venue, crew, etc, and eventually hearing back from Bobo who is oh so chill and laidback! I read the email from Bobo saying I’m a persistent one and he’d have my photo pass ready when I come! I have to say I really did get lucky with this one because as a female freelance photographer with no connections or media supports especially in the kpop world, this opportunity was actually impossible my persistence got me through and made me so many memories and connections to grow for the future and become steps closer to my dream of becoming a tour photographer!
